Privacy Policy

As a therapist, I am deeply committed to the privacy and confidentiality of my clients. This Privacy Policy details how I collect, use, disclose, and protect your information in my practice. By engaging in therapy with me, you consent to the handling of your information as described here.

Information Collection and Use

I collect only the information necessary to offer you therapeutic services according to the AAMFT Code of Ethics. This includes personal identification information (such as your name, email address, and phone number), health information, and any other relevant details you share with me during our sessions.

Confidentiality and Disclosure

Your privacy is of utmost importance to me. Information disclosed in therapy sessions is confidential and will not be shared without your written consent, except in circumstances required by law and the AAMFT Code of Ethics, including:

  • If there is a credible threat to your safety or the safety of others.

  • In cases of suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elderly, or vulnerable adult.

  • As mandated by court orders or legal proceedings.

Data Security

I take the security of your information seriously and employ appropriate measures to protect it against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, please be aware that no method of electronic storage or transmission is entirely secure on the internet. While I strive to protect your personal information with commercially acceptable means, I cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Contact Requests & Protected Health Information

When you complete a contact form, request a consultation, or otherwise reach out through my website, you voluntarily provide personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, and any information you choose to include in your message.

By submitting this information, you consent to being contacted by Faarah Misbah, LAMFT, or an authorized member of the practice regarding your inquiry, scheduling, services, or related follow-up communications by phone, email, text message, or secure electronic communication, unless you request a specific communication method.

Please do not submit sensitive medical or mental health information through general website contact forms unless specifically instructed to do so. Initial contact forms are intended only to help us respond to your inquiry and determine whether our services may be a good fit.

If you become a client, any protected health information (PHI) collected during treatment will be handled in accordance with applicable federal and state privacy laws, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), where applicable. Clinical records are maintained separately from website inquiries and are protected using appropriate administrative, technical, and physical safeguards.

Submitting a contact form does not establish a therapist-client relationship. A therapeutic relationship begins only after appropriate intake procedures, informed consent, and mutual agreement to provide services.

Access to Your Information

You have the right to review and request corrections to any personal information I have collected about you. If you wish to view, correct, or delete your personal information, please contact me directly.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

I may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Any changes will be posted on my website, and I encourage you to review this policy regularly for any updates.
